Legendary movie star Harrison Ford has hit the headlines today, after crash-landing his World War II training plane into a California golf course! The seventy two year old star was reportedly battered but in a fine condition, proving that he is indeed a man of Indiana Jones-like resilience…
The incident turned out well, but it could have played out a lot worse. The star was piloting a two seater plane, a World War II training plane model, over the Los Angeles area. Near the Penmar Golf Course in Venice, Mr. Ford lost control of the vehicle and ploughed into the luscious green grass. Stunned onlookers scrambled to the plane, helping the ageing star out of the wreckage.
In the aftermath of the crash, Mr. Ford’s loved ones and publicists have been keen to allay the fears of his many adoring fans. Mr. Ford’s son, Ben, tweeted from his father’s bedside. “At the hospital. Dad is OK. Battered, but OK! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.”
Mr. Ford’s publicist, Ina Treciokas, told the gathered media that Mr. Ford was in good health. “He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life-threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery,” she explained.
Harrison Ford has had a long and varied career spanning the last five decades. His many screen heroes include the legendary renegade pilot, Han Solo, and dedicated adventurer Indiana Jones. But very few Hollywood insiders would’ve underestimated Mr. Ford’s resilience and tenacity. The ageing actor is known for his stunt work, having personally performed in many of the most iconic action sequences in modern film history.
Recently, the actor injured his ankle while filming scenes for the new Star Wars film. According to Variety, “a hydraulic door fell down and hit Ford, possibly fracturing his ankle.”
With the dramatic video of the incident sure to surface online, we’re just glad that one of cinema’s best tough guys will live to fight again!
